“Trails are like that: you’re floating along in a Shakespearean Arden paradise and expect to see nymphs and flute boys, then suddenly you’re struggling in a hot broiling sun of hell in
dust and nettles and poison oak…just like life.”
Jack Kerouac, The Dharma Bums
Thirty acres of the Village Place Conservation Subdivision is conservation land that has public access for walking, snowshoeing, and cross country skiing. It is excellent habitat for wildlife and many animal tracks can be seen on the trails in the winter.
There is a parking lot on Route 9 that gives access to a large field that connects to the trails. Village Place residents have access to the trails from the cul de sac on Breezy Way. The trails extend from one access point to the other.
The conservation land contains a small hemlock forest with a trail that goes between it and the pine-oak forest next to it.
